Funeral photography

During a funeral, it’s not about the car, the coffin or the flowers. It is about the deceased, the love for it and the farewell to it.

The days from the moment of death to the days after the funeral or cremation pass too quickly, you often experience them in a daze and go on autopilot. So much needs to be arranged to ensure the best possible farewell. As a result, you do not experience every moment very consciously and that is a shame.

Sometimes it is difficult to share your memories of the farewell with others, feelings cannot always be expressed in words. Making the farewell visual by a funeral photographer is a special way to cherish and share these moments. Not only immediately after death, but also with the next generation. Asking for a funeral photographer offers a lot of value. This funeral photographer can capture the funeral with personal images. It’s not without reason that they say ‘A picture is worth a thousand words.’

01. Why Funeral / Mourning Photography

During the last phase of life, emotions are so intense that beautiful, precious moments often pass you by unconsciously. Comforting memories after a funeral are often missed because a funeral is experienced in a daze. Moments of connection, of love and warmth sometimes just pass you by.

That’s when funeral photography can mean so much! That loving look, that hand on your shoulder, that tender gesture… These are all intimate moments that I capture as a funeral photographer, as a precious memory to look back on later.

02. For whom Funeral / Mourning Photography

Contrary to popular belief, funeral photography is not only valuable for children. Young people, adults and even the elderly also indicate that funeral photos help them to restart life after a loss. Funeral photography provides something lasting: it keeps memories alive and prevents those memories from fading.

03. Funeral photography or not?

Choosing funeral photography is a very personal choice. As a funeral photographer, I regularly meet families who are not sure whether they need it. After all, not everyone is aware of what funeral photography actually entails. Funeral photography is often forgotten because so much has to be arranged around the funeral in a short time.

Afterwards, relatives often regret that they did not think more about funeral photography. That’s why I always advise you to think about this carefully. If the need is not there at the moment, it can come later…?

04. My working method

Out of respect for the surviving relatives, I record memories in a respectful and honest manner. This means, among other things, that I will never be disruptive during a funeral. Moreover, I use low-noise equipment and do not use a flash.

As a funeral photographer and compassionate people person, I not only know how to deal with grief, but I am also aware of what happens during a funeral. By proactively anticipating this, I shape my output: respectfully capturing comforting memories of an emotional moment in a human life.
